These productions can be considered as music videos or technologic demonstrations (this is where the word \u201cdemo\u201d comes from), and are the hard work of impassioned people since the 80\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Demomakers use to meet several times a year at demoparties, to attend various contests : graphics, music, coding competitions, and not least the intro and demo competitions where all the disciplines melt and produce impressive shows on the big screen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The <b>demoscene<\/b> is an international <a title=\"Computer art\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computer_art\">computer art<\/a> <a title=\"Subculture\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Subculture\">subculture<\/a> that specializes in producing <a title=\"Demo (computer programming)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Demo_(computer_programming)\">demos<\/a>: small, self-contained computer programs that produce <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Audio-visual\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Audio-visual\">audio-visual<\/a> presentations. The main goal of a demo is to show off <a title=\"Computer programming\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computer_programming\">programming<\/a>, artistic, and <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Music scene (programming)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Music_scene_(programming)\">musical skills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The demoscene\u2019s roots are in the <a title=\"Home computer\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Home_computer\">home computer<\/a> revolution of the late 1970s, and the subsequent advent of <a title=\"Software cracking\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Software_cracking\">software cracking<\/a>.
